Yes indeed.
The idea that life has no shape until art touches it seems odd to me. Art opens new views on the shapes of life we already think we know. Isn’t that more like it? I don’t mean to be difficult. Maybe that’s what he means. Quote reminds me of an art student, pressed to make a statement about the nature of art, and doing the best he can.
