there we stand
face to face
all words gone
just the eyes
remain
other writing
for my Mother on Mother’s Day: aiming toward heaven
there
as always
aiming toward heaven
where you now
reside
Grand Magazine
Some of my poems have been published in the May/June issue of Grand Magazine. See link: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/grand/20180506/index.php#/5
Apart from my poems, the magazine is filled with interesting articles: tips on online dating, grandparenting, vacation ideas, interviews with personalities like George Foreman & Connie Goldman from NPR, to mention a few. Check it out.
And thank you Christine Crosby, Editorial Director, for including me.
And a special thank you to Deborah Carroll for thinking of me.
listening to The Fouır Seasons sing Walk like A Man: for Kevin, Vic & Joey wherever you are
those words that song
echoing in the halls
of memory
with the picture
of your youthful swagger
coming through the door
of the Youth Center
before all that followed
came to pass
and age cuts tears
took their toll
muscles sag
hair recedes
and the bop, Joey
is gone
but the scars
remain
then & now
there was
that
now
there is
this
heading home: my wish for children
to feel as safe
as when sleeping
on the back seat
of the family car
gliding silently
through the dark night
heading home
bowing once more to Li Po in the early hours of morning after another long, sleepless night, drinking with a friend
a glass, a glass, and another glass
and yet not drunk
or sober
in that middle state
suspended where you lurk, old friend
where I can find you
drinking with a friend
a bouquet of flowers
the flowers
she said
breathe life
in this room this house
a gift
from afar
yet as near
as a bouquet
of flowers
this heart
through your veins
what flows through your veins
flows through your veins
and there’s no way
to flush it out
talking education
not
to control minds
but
to open them
