My heart aches to recall the moon above Mount Ami;
My heart aches to recall the clouds around Mount Ami.
Though clouds follow the moon wherever I go,
It is the crystal-clear peak of Mount Ami that I long for.

Going Up To The Capital by Song Shi-yol
The green waters roar as if angry,
the blue mountains hush, as if frowning.
Musing on the mountains and waters I realize
they hate my going into the world of wind and dust.
translated by Kim Jong-gil
In My Study by Yun Son-do
My eyes fixed on the mountains and my ears on the lute,
how could the affairs of the world ever disturb my mind?
Though nobody knows, I am full of lively spirits,
wildly I sing out a song, and then intone it alone.
