heart

a bouquet of flowers

April 19, 2018 / zdunno03 / 2 Comments

the flowers
she said
breathe life
in this room this house
a gift
from afar
yet as near
as a bouquet
of flowers
this heart

arrows to the heart

March 19, 2018 / zdunno03 / 4 Comments

words
in the air
are arrows
to the heart

from a line by Sung Wan: falling petals

February 10, 2017 / zdunno03 / 6 Comments

it sounded like
falling petals
but was only
pieces
of my heart

never locked

February 5, 2017 / zdunno03 / 9 Comments

no key needed
the door
never locked
on my heart

from a line by Li Ch’ing-chao: nothing can ever make it fade or disappear

September 5, 2016September 5, 2016 / zdunno03 / 4 Comments

there
on my heart
indelibly etched
an image
you
and nothing
can ever make it fade
or disappear

the gift

August 28, 2016August 28, 2016 / zdunno03 / 4 Comments

unwrap it gently
the ribbon the bow
paper carefully selected
the color gold
remove the cover
there in the box
his heart
worn with age
beating still
in her hands

mind on leave

July 17, 2016July 17, 2016 / zdunno03 / 2 Comments

mind on leave
out looking
for my heart

much like my heart

June 21, 2016 / zdunno03 / 21 Comments

there the moon
refusing to leave
the morning sky
much like my heart
a hovering love
above the streets
where you walk

in your heart

December 15, 2015 / zdunno03 / 7 Comments

hoping to find
home
in your heart

Beppe reflects on his capacity for love

December 6, 2015December 6, 2015 / zdunno03 / 6 Comments

he realizes
of course
that no one
could open up
the shell
that is
his heart

I'm a writer and an educator living in Istanbul, Turkey. I currently have two books published by Austin Macauley Publishers (Istanbul Days, Istanbul Nights & Rizzo's World) in the UK and three others (Night & Day, Wooing Wu, and Harry) available through amazon.com as kindles. Another mystery novel was translated into Turkish available through a publisher in Turkey. That's me as the writer. Currently I work independently as a coach/consultant in Turkey. Before this, I was a coach/consultant for managers at Petkim Petrol/Chemical Company in Izmir. I've also been the director of English language programs at five different colleges/universities: two in my native NY and three in Istanbul. That's me as the educator. I have two masters: an MFA in Creative Writing from Bowling Green University (why oh why oh why-o, did I ever go to Ohio?) and an MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Columbia University. And besides all that, I once managed a shoe store, a warehouse, owned a literary bookstore called Intellectuals & Liars in Santa Monica, CA, worked as a professional boy scout, wrote advertising copy for radio, did summer stock as an actor, clerked in a food co-op, was a busboy for a day at Ziggy's Kosher Restaurant, sold vacuum cleaners at Gimbels, was a green attendant at Cypress Hills Cemetery and so on.
