Chuck says
when we were younger
it was sort of a whimsy
to think of time passing
before we shrugged it off
and moved on with our day
now it’s a reality
fleeting has a new meaning
and each day
each moment
a new significance
there is nothing quite like
these Saturday morning conversations
to remind one
of things one cannot overlook
anymore
so it’s Judy Collins
on the stereo
which prompted that comment
and wine this early
in the morning
and the hell with time
let it pass
there’s laundry to do
some food shopping
buy a steak to eat
with eggs for breakfast
tomorrow morning
and dare that specter
to try anything funny
with me today
I so relate to this!
Thank you. I’m glad you can appreciate it.
Reblogged this on Leonard Durso.
I’m going to live today as if it is my last one before I enter the cosmic universe off all Truth.
Time can rule us if we let it. The dust will stay upon the table, laundry will fill the chute. The vacuum will sit silent.
I have learned the value of tea with a friend, a chat with the new neighbor, a wave as a neighbor passes by.
Time stands still in the moment of rejoicing. It takes on dynamic speed within the mundane and unnecessary parts of ones life..
That’s a good philosophy to have.
It took me a lifetime to learn that nothing is promised. Each minute is an eternity unto itself.
☕️❤️
Right you are.
Thoughtful expression of how time marches on, despite our trying to slow it down. Leonard, is Chuck the “specter” ( you mention) of your brother or a real friend? Forgive me for asking. . .
He’s a real friend in San Francisco who I talk to via Skype every weekend. I know him now almost 40 years.
