“Knowledge emerges only through invention and re-invention, through the restless, impatient, continuing, hopeful inquiry men pursue in the world, with the world, and with each other.
In the banking concept of education, knowledge is a gift, bestowed by those who consider themselves knowledgeable upon those whom they consider to know nothing. Projecting an absolute ignorance onto others, a characteristic of the ideology of oppression, negates education and knowledge as processes of inquiry.”

It’s a wonderful quote! Especially it is relevant today when many school teachers are ignorant and many professors in universities have very limited knowledge and care only about living comfortable life. They are poison to their students. Sorry, but my “Like” button stopped working or your site.
Best to you!
Thanks. I haven’t read him since I was in grad school at Columbia but came across a copy my friend Ali had in his house and started reading him again. He made a powerful impression on me years ago and still makes a powerful impression today.
Your post reminded me of an episode of the Big Bang Theory whereby Sheldon is going to visit his mother and Howard, who is going with him, suggests that they bring her a gift. Sheldon answers: I’m bringing her the gift of my knowledge.
Of course, this shows Sheldon’s ego-centric self but knowledge is indeed a great gift. 🙂
It is indeed.
New on WordPress and also on your blog, I just loved that positive quote. We may define knowledge in several ways but one of them as you have stated is great.
