well I didn’t go
anywhere
took a nap
cooked broccoli
with linguine
drank half a bottle
of white wine
listened to jazz vocalists
Billie Holiday Norah Jones Shirley Horn
Hillary Kole the Nat King Cole Trio
ate peanuts
watched James Bond
Craig and Dalton
heartless bastards
read a bit
wrote two poems
more of the book
let the cat sleep
on the bed
and screw it
I’m not planning
on dying
anytime
soon
Leonard, we must have crossed or shared lives sometime in the ever so distant past… This piece in particular speaks directly to me.
Well for me the past, distant or not, is ever intruding on my present which does not bode well for the future, I suppose. But you know, I’m getting to that point where I not only accept that but relish it a bit even. Glad, though, you found part of yourself here. One day, as Jeff has suggested, we will all, Emily included and any other kindred souls wandering by, have to meet and rehash parts of the past as we talk poetry over wine with some good music in the background in what I hope will be a funky bar in the part of the world you all call home.
Poetry, wine, music. I’m in!
There’s a little James Bond in you, sir.
You say the kindest things.
I’m crashing at your pad next time I’m in Istanbul Leonard!
Might be a little hard to do since I’m in Izmir now but if you make your way down to the Aegean coast, you’re welcome here.
Broccoli with Linguine? What type of sauce?
No sauce. Just saute the broccoli in olive oil and garlic. I also add oregano and crushed red pepper but that’s my taste. Then add about 4-5 ozs of chicken broth, let simmer while water is boiling for pasta. You don’t want it to be soupy with the chicken broth but the flavor will be in the broccoli.
Cook pasta and then add to skillet with broccoli. Mix, and add your favorite grating cheese. Then eat.
Wonderful! Sometimes, I think defiance is the only rational option.
Thanks. So do I, but depending on the circumstances, of course.
