has it been
so very long
that we sat together
at the Blue Note
listening to jazz
those days
I would sign you out
for a trip
off-campus
a Shakespearean play
with The Scribblers
you writing poetry
in my living room
eating donuts
drinking coffee
reading every book
I recommended
in my classes
for 3 years
surprising everyone
at that school
who had so little faith
in you
who was always
one step away
from expulsion
but we knew
didn’t we, David
that you would blossom
and there you are
with family
a career in advertising
writing for a living
mentoring others
now
like I mentored you
my heart swells
to hear this
see you’ve grown
into the man
I always knew
you would be
and so honored
to have you
in my life
again
Excellent in every way, Leonard! You heap honor upon each other and upon us who read your words.
Bravo, Leonard!
Ron
Thank you, Ron.
Yes, yes… feeling good all at once. How nice is that?
Couldn’t be better. Thanks.
We all need someone special to step up for us at some point in our lives. Thanks for that reminder. David was lucky to find you when he did.
Thank you for that.
Oh — and so are we!!!
Now that is especially kind of you to say.
I second that!
Thank, Jeff.
Marvelous–this is what makes life worthwhile, positive impact on others…and then the joy of knowing it.
How right you are. Thank you.
Most welcome.
You’ll never know the impact my friend…thank you!
Ah David. You were just a diamond in the rough, as the old saying goes, and I was just the only one looking who saw it.
