the voices keep calling you
tormenting what passes for your soul
you know you must be leaving
but hang onto the day
days that run dawn to dusk
in a place you don’t belong
you try to kill that restless feeling
with responsibilities
obligations
with boundaries that bind
these things were tried before
this life you’ve lived before
and though you hear your name spoken
it is not the name you answer to
and there are voices on the wind
impossible to resist
this time there just isn’t much to hold you
and the names
the names you carry
send sorrow through the air
and the weight
the weight fills your lungs
and your mind
your perfect weapon
yearns to go down to the sea
and purify itself
What a day to read this, I learned of the deaths of the demonstrators.
Stay safe, my friend.
Thank you. I still can’t find words to adequately express what I think/feel about what is happening to Turkey this last month or so.
It is certainly heartbreaking. The uneasiness around the world appears at a tipping point, just when we desperately need cooler heads to prevail, there is another melee.
Turkey is surrounded in the midst of great mayhem. It is as a cancer that has multiplied beyond control.
Stay safe.
It’s always the young or the helpless that are the victims everywhere, whether it is a bombing, a shooting, or a war. One could die of a heart laden with grief if we let the pain of the world in.
But don’t you think the empathy for those that endure the suffering, is what motivates us to want to carve a better world? I understand that we cannot allow grief to consume us to the point that we do not act. But, it is when people react to the hatred and violence without considering the consequences, is this not when mayhem dictates the rule of the day?
Of course we must be guided by empathy in all our dealings with people/events. And we must support those leaders who are trying to bring about positive effects, not negative, derisive people who, unfortunately, seem to be getting most of the attention.
You really need go back to your home…. 🙂 🙂
At least to recharge my battery.
