Cloud by Sowol Kim

If I could make a stallion
of the crimson cloud that sails
darkened in the night,
I would fly nine thousand leagues
to be held in your arms
while you lie asleep.
But this I cannot do.
When you hear the rain fall,
take it for my tears
that I shed every night.

    • He appears in anthologies of Korean poetry but there is one book I know of that was published by Ronsdale Press in Vancouver called Fugitive Dreams. I have posted several poems from that book and am reposting them again. The translators are Jaihiun Kim & Ronald B. Hatch. I do not know if it is still in print since it was published by a small press in 1998 but you may be able to find it. There are many other fine Korean poets that are published in English but unfortunately those books are in storage in New York and I won’t be able to access them until I move back later in the spring. Anyway, I’m glad you like him.
