it was
at that steak house
on the coast
we climbed the rocks
later
after having surf & turf
and talked
more or less
about the state
of our ununion
funny
how little remains
in my memory
just a faint taste
of lobster
the sound
of waves
hitting rock
and the sad smile
slowly fading
from your lips
childhood memories.?. 🙂 🙂
Memories but not of childhood.
I wonder how many of us could tell the same story!
Many, I’m sure.
You certainly captured that.
Thank you, Anna.
This is a beauty. All of the senses activated opening the way to being able to thoroughly see and feel the sad smile fading…
Thank you for these kind words.
Sad, very sad….but beautifully said.
Thank you.
“the state of our ununion” Moving and hopeless. You’ve beautifully captured the ruination and fading light of a love that’s dying.
Thank you for this very kind comment.
