these ancient poets
and their longing
for homes
beyond reach
family friends
only recalled
in memory
carrying a melancholy
at times too deep
to bear
yet able still
to be stunned
by the beauty
of the natural world
around them
these ancient poets
speak to for me
there is so much homesickness in many of the poems you post. I hope you get a break sometimes, or light a the end of the tunnel.
A side effect to living overseas, especially when one does that on one’s own.
All the best for your journey then.
Thank you.
something about a poet…
They do speak to us.
‘carrying a melancholy at times too deep to bear’ I can always find something within your post that I can take away with me, and I wanted to share that with you. They are written in my journal. Have a great day. Ann
Thank you, Ann. That is very kind of you to say. I appreciate it.
Beautiful poetry Leonard. The Tang poets were revered in a time when this form of literature was considered an important artistic and social genre. Thank you so much for bring this era back to us.
I’m glad you are enjoying reading them.
Very much so!
Since we came out of the caves we have been picking up stones and stringing them together in verse. I do believe Genesis 1 represents one of those stings in Hebrew verse . . . I always am moved by your writing . . . Thank you for sharing it with me!
Thank you, Peter. I appreciate your kind words.
We speak with them, L.
