oh tree
keep my secret
keep my secret
whispered to thee
and do not tell
do not tell
what was said
by me
oh tree
keep my secret
keep my secret
whispered to thee
and do not tell
do not tell
what was said
by me

If trees could talk our language…whoa!
Scary thought, huh.
How many of us have whispered our secrets to Trees, for they will hold our secret desires long after we are gone.
That’s the hope.
My trees never tell and I always talk to them. 🙂
You talk to the right trees then.
Len, have you read The Hidden Life of Trees? Reading it now.
Great poem. You can trust the tree.
No, I haven’t but put it on my Wish List at amazon since you seem to be recommending it. This poem comes from two sources: the image of Tony Leung Chiu Wai in the Wong Kar-wai film In the Mood for Love whispering his secret into a crevice of a temple wall and a line of a Chinese poem lingering in my mind of talking to a tree. I just combined the two because I liked the idea of whispering secrets to a living thing rather than a temple wall. and then, as I know you can relate to this, the poem wouldn’t let me go until I released it.
Lovely!
Well, I whispered into the wind and there went my secret 🙂

That’s a lovely poem. And yes, there are consequences to sharing secrets. I hope yours were what you hoped for.
