Plum Blossoms by Lu You (translation)

Mary Tang’s translation of one of my favorite Sung Dynasty poets on her blog Life is But This

Life is But This 命

This is one of six poems that the Song Dynasty poet, Lu You wrote of Plum Blossoms and the third poem that I have translated with the same name.  The first by Wang An Shi and the second by Wang Mian.

Plum Blossoms by Lu You (1125 – 1210)

They say the blossoms are bracing the daybreak breeze

Like clouds of snow they encircle the surrounding hills

Would I transform into thousands of thousands

So there is one of me to every flowering tree

(c) Mary Tang   2017

梅花。陸游

聞道梅花坼曉風,雪堆遍滿四山中。

何方可化身千億,一樹梅花一放翁。
