Mount North by Wang An Shi (translation)

another of Mary Tang’s translations from her blog Life is But This

Life is But This 命

The Song Dynasty poet Wang An Shi knew how to write but he also knew how to live.

Mount North by Wang An Shi (1021 – 1086)

Hollowed a log for a boat with yards to spare

I lie watching the drifting moon outlines the lotus

A waft of clear scent clears the summer heat

At times a fish leaps in fright as tree nuts fall
