a song from 1972
on the radio
in a restaurant
thousands of miles
decades later
from the images
it brings forth
of a smile
those long legs
a dance in candlelight
a faraway look
in eyes
and a bottle of wine
cannot erase
all those years
all those miles
damn the song
damn the ache
damn this heart
but where would we be without our memories – for me it’s ‘Save the Last Dance for me’ that carries me back…
Music and film and all the associations they conjure up
music is so powerful
It can transport you somewhere/sometime ago.
I once watched a Daddy Long-legs parading along a piece of wood against a full moon. We are not there anymore, the moon nor I. But we recorded it.
“On the Street Where You Live” does it for me every day. A heart is the only thing that can break today and it still breaks again tomorrow.
So very true.
