to rein in
a restless mind
is like trying
to bottle
the wind
sometimes in a dream
you all appear
only to fade
come morning
and now
a life apart
separated
by the gulf
between the here and now
and the there and was
land and seas away
on this Christmas morning
another night
blends into
morning
sleep
elusive
dreams
disjointed
mind hovers
over water
so far
from land
still
at sea
not that
at least
not always
but then again
sometimes
it does come
to that
from Douglas Moore’s blog Art of Quotation
“If there is one thing I’ve learned in my years on this planet, it’s that the happiest and most fulfilled people I’ve known are those who devoted themselves to something bigger and more profound than merely their own self interest.”
morning coffee
watching my world
shift
my dog
would have willingly
followed me
into hell
my cat
would prefer waiting
to see
if I return
time
is on
no one’s side
it is
strictly neutral
night
still, deep
a long way
till dawn
