like a phoenix
she rises at dawn
fire in her eyes
in the pit
of her stomach
there is so much
she wants
all the universe
has to offer
to swallow life whole
on the road
to discovery
all of it
all
her hunger yearning
this phoenix
rising
like a phoenix
she rises at dawn
fire in her eyes
in the pit
of her stomach
there is so much
she wants
all the universe
has to offer
to swallow life whole
on the road
to discovery
all of it
all
her hunger yearning
this phoenix
rising

I read, rant and write ;)
It sounds to me very much as if you have either a very demanding new girlfriend or a fairly typical cat. Either way, best of luck.
Thanks but neither. Just a good friend who asks for a poem every now and then from words she thinks will challenge me. I’m not much for other people’s prompts but after the first one I did for her it I found it pleasing to do others for her.
Thank you. I hadn’t really expected a reply.
Nice.
There was a time on waking ready to devour the day. Now I wake mildly surprised I’m still around.
The poem is very evocative of, for me, what was.
It is a poem for a young woman so in that sense fpr the hunger of youth.
You captured it.
Thank you.
Apart from the pronoun this poem is describing my youngest son.
Though I wrote it for a friend, I understand how others can see themselves in it.
Wonderful poem!
Most could relate, myself included.
Thank you. It does seem to resonate with others which is what one always hopes for..
