she said
age is just a number
so typical
of the young
not understanding
age is more
than a number
but the creaking of bones
in the morning
the shortness of breath
after climbing 5 long flights
the slow diminishing of sight
when reading those beloved books
and the hearing of beating wings
as that dark angel
draws closer
as each night falls
You’re right, age does make a difference.
How is it going in Turkey Leonard?
Leslie
It’s going fine. My consulting is tailored to my strengths and my writing has veered away from prose to scripts but I’m liking it. And I love the section of Istanbul where I live. The lira has devalued considerably since I’ve lived here but thankfully my SS money balances that out. How about there?
There isn’t a heck of lot different in Canada. Dollar is not bad but dropping as far as purchasing power. Housing and rents are out of sight. Food is going up too. We’ll just have to stick it out. All the best to you for the season.

The rising prices have hurt everyone here. Some restaurants that survived the lockdowns might not survive the inflated cost of goods.
Restaurants and the service industries are really hurting here.
Leslie
Same here. Inflation does not help the cost of goods and service.
Happy New Year Leonard.

Don’t forget the losses of those you love.
I can’t forget those. They people my dreams most nights. And though it’s good to see them, the loss is revisited each morning when I wake.
Me too.
It happens more the older we get.
So true!
Too true.
