seagulls

the windows
facing
the sea
and thinks
I imagine
like most
of us
of the freedom
of flight
cats
cat’s world
cat secure
on left arm
purring contently
his world
what you have
sometimes
all you have
is the cat
and though
quite possibly
you wanted
more
at least
you don’t have
less
what the cat knows
the cat
runs
through rooms
as if
possessed
he must know
something
I don’t
but whatever
it is
he’s not
saying
maybe
it’s time
to get
another cat
solutions
the cat
likes to sleep
on my injured arm
preventing it
from healing
solution one
shut the door
and ignore
the scratching
and crying
solution two
shoot the cat
I dislike closed doors
and don’t own a gun
solution three
open to suggestions
basic relationship: cat & man
the cat sleeps
on my arm
anchors me down
with his love

no misunderstandings
no mixed messages
he wants
he gives
he gets
cat and man
at home
together
in peace
the cat at home
the cat wanders
from room to room
intrigued
by the many windows
all with screens
that he now
stares pensively out
he has readily adjusted
to his new home
completely forgetting
the past
as only cats can
the cat moans
he wants attention
so moans
behind my back
hoping
I suppose
I’ll turn around
after 7 years
you’d think he’d know
I’m not so easily
seduced
the prince
the cat on the bed
a prince surveying his world
the eyes droop sleepy
this is no easy business
keeping tabs on his domain
