how shall we tell
the bright petals
from the sun in the
sky concentrically
crowding the branch
save that it yields
in its modesty
to that splendor?

A wonderful poet. It’s hard to believe that he wrote poetry, had an active medical practice, and the time to mentor younger poets.
He was, and still is, an inspiration to many.
Yes he was..are you familiar with poet Harold Norse?
I know of him but only only came across some of his poetry in anthologies years ago. He was a Beat poet, as I remember.
He is categorized with them but I’m not sure he fits…I only mention him because of William Carlos Williams who was something of a mentor certain members of the beats…and according to legend, thought that Norse was the best of the lot…

I’ll have to visit him then. Thanks for the suggestion.
I enjoy discussing poets and poetry…I like that you present poets on your blog. I think I may make a section for posting the poets who inspire me to write.
We are all part of a tradition and so I think it is necessary never to forget that. Which reminds me of a Robert Creeley poem I think I will repost now. Do you know his work?
Yes I do know Robert Creeley’s work. There was a time when I was steeped in poetry. Your point is well taken…Poetry has a unique power when the all of the elements are in place.
That it does.
