Love this.
I’m glad you love it.
😀
Nice one.
Thank you, Bob.
This reminds me of Robert Frost’s …” Home is the place where when you have to go there, they have to take you in….”
I thought of Frost when writing it but I think I imply a different message.
Yep! Simple but true.
I often get asked when I’m going back ‘home’ to visit, to see my mom, to see old friends, to see how much things have changed, yadda, yadda, yadda… Funny thing is, I ran away from that place and to me it doesn’t feel like home. Sure, it’s where I grew up, but there’s nothing pulling me in that direction.
Where I am now, that feels like home, I don’t feel like I need to run away. Though the physical house is fast being outgrown for our needs, at least it’s mine, no one else’s. So, yep, I’m home!
I left, too, in what one friend called my self-imposed exile but with the passing of several friends these last few years, I’ve decided to return to the US this summer for good. Time is slipping away and I want to spend the time remaining near those I love. It is where I belong. But we all belong different places at different times of our lives. That’s the nature of life.
Oh wow. Given the strong political piece you wrote recently I figured you’d be gone for good! Such a huge decision. Hope the return is a successful one. ☺
I could write a very critical piece about Turkey’s government but you can get arrested here for doing that. In the US, though, you can speak your mind, which is a major difference between the two countries. Anyway, it’s really about people who are important to me, not the country itself, though I do miss certain things about the US, NY especially, but I’ll miss certain things about Turkey after I’m gone. But I can’t see myself being away from those I love any longer when the aging process and illness is taking its toll on them. Time to be near the people I belong with. And that is home to me.
Well said… Best wishes
Thanks.
Lovely
Thank you, Nimi.
Love the simplicity, and the truth.
Beautiful and perfect: a little pebble that fits neatly in my palm.
I’m carrying it home now. 🙂
Thank you. Put it somewhere safe.
Indeed. 🙂
