there come those times
in the day at night
when you replay moments
adjust positions
fine-tune dialogue
edit in your favor
those words
you shouldn’t have said
and you think yes
this is the way
it should have might have
played
and a different life
than the one you’re living
causes that lump
that tear
there
Quite often, we become the stories we edit.
So very true, Jim.
Very beautiful Leonard.
Thank you for saying that.
Sigh.
I agree.
Funny how night time plays those tricks, as if the mind is recollecting the days events, a subconscious minutes brought to the surface.
Daytime can do it, too, with the right associations popping up in the day.
You drove this one right into the heart of the matter of something we’ve all experienced at one time or another. 🙂 ❤
Thank you, Natalie.
My inner editor tends toward “awfulizing” whatever I did/said in an interaction that didn’t go quite how I wanted it to or thought it would – at times it makes the replay not at all enjoyable UGH! You do put words together nicely!
Thanks. I hope your replays work better in the future.
Packing a punch, Leonard.
Thanks, Christopher.
You’re welcome
oh my…..shoulda, woulda, coulda comes to mind.
It’s those late night/early mornings thoughts.
