My old friend, the owner
of a new boat, stops by
to ask me to fish with him,
and I say I will–both of us
knowing that we may never
get around to it, it may be
years before we’re both
idle again on the same day.
But we make a plan, anyhow,
in honor of friendship
and the fine spring weather
and the new boat
and our sudden thought
of the water shining
under the morning fog.
He is a favorite….lives about 8 miles from me!
Lucky you. Have you ever visited him?
I have met him twice. He is very private, but a very “real” & nice man. We both share the problem of not hearing well. His fiction (specifically Fidelity) really helped explain the type of people that I’ve encountered here. He loves this area. Me too.
You couldn’t ask for a better neighbor.
Lovely.
I’m glad you think so.
