from Douglas Moore’s Art of Quotation blog
“We come on the ship they called the Mayflower
We come on the ship that sailed the moon
We come in the ages’ most uncertain hour
And we sing an American tune”
— Paul Simon, American Tune, 1975, lyrics, song quotes
Memories memories memories…….He changed the face of songwriting to bring the world to itself… so much has changed ..yet so much stays the same. My brother introduced me to “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” , in 1967 and he rarely got so excited over folk music. And now our relationship is shattered….far apart.
Sorry about your lost relationship to your brother. Is there no bridge you can cross to rekindle it?
Trying, but it takes two, and I am willing to go so far, but not to the point of changing myself from what I actually am. Thanks for your concern.
Lovely! Thanks for sharing this song – one of Paul Simon’s best! Anita
Yes, many of his songs touch cords in all of us.
So beautiful, not heard that song before! Thanks for sharing the post Leonard. 🙂
I just reblogged it because I feel it is appropriate today. The original credit goes to Douglas Moore.
