Intoxicated Beneath the Flowers by Li Shang Yin (translation)

a beautiful translation of a Li Shang Yin poem by Mary Tang on her blog Life is But This

Life is But This 命

A poem by the Tang Dynasty poet, Li Shang Yin (813-858) translated from Chinese to English:

Intoxicated Beneath the Flowers by Li Shang Yin

Following a scent I swallowed the potion in a trance

The sun was sinking as I slumbered against the tree

The guests were gone when I came to in the dead of night

Still I held a red candle to behold the faded blooms

花下醉。李商隱

尋芳不覺醉流霞,倚樹沉眠日已斜。

客散酒醒深夜後,更持紅燭賞殘花。
