Oh my Goodness. I haven’t seen Kenneth Rexroth’s name for so long. Back in my callow youth he and Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Ferlinghetti and Kerouac were names I had on my bookshelves or bedside table. I can still remember.
It’s Rexroth’s translations of the Chinese & Japanese poets (the books 100 Poems from the . . .) that stirred my interest in and then love of Asian literature so I am also indebted to him.
