it’s easy to identify
with the longing
of those ancient Chinese friends
of mine
but oh how different
to feel at home
here in self-imposed exile
among people more alike
than different
from those from whom
I came

of those ancient Chinese friends
of mine
but oh how different
to feel at home

Interesting to read this take on your exile.
Thanks. I’m an adjusted exile.
So they said to me,
“You won’t like it there.
They’re so different.”
But I liked it there.
Works that way at times.
“from those from whom
I came” I”m sort of exiled, I guess. I am, and those around me are, different from where we came.
Thank you for liking my poem!
