Can you recommend a book of Chinese poetry (translated!) that I could buy?
Sure, but which translator have you liked the most? If I know that, I can recommend a book by that one. Otherwise the anthology Poems of the Masters translated by Red Pine published by Copper Canyon Press is a good start or the one this poem comes from Classical Chinese Poetry translated by David Hinton published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux. Red Pine tends to give excellent notes for each poem but his anthology, though, just covers the T’ang & Sung Dynasty poets. Hinton tries to cover more ground in terms of centuries but only deals with major poets in each century. Both are available in paperback. A personal favorite is Sunflower Splendor which uses the work of many translators and includes a good selection of many poets across 3000 years. That book is out of print, I believe, but you might be able to find a used copy through an online search at a reasonable price.
