Fragment by Bian Zhilin

You are standing on a bridge enjoying the view;
Someone’s watching you from a balcony.
The moon adorns your window;
You adorn someone else’s dream.

  1. I’m not as familiar with 20th c. Chinese poets, so thanks for posting this! Just now looking through some of Bian’s other poems (a few translations by Jarek Zawadski online) I can tell I’m going to enjoy reading his work.

    • I’m glad you like him. The most famous of that school is probably Bei Dao but Duo Duo and Shu Ting are also widely translated. And Ha Jin is also very well-known not only as a poet but as a novelist. I actually saw him read in NY before I left for Turkey.
