Long ago you were perhaps
a river flowing down a mountain!
Since then you’ve been flowing,
deepening your bed;
If I could make a river current
understand human feeling,
Then you might know my mind
on coming from so far.

You, water with no feeling,
Have you regrets as you flow east?
In my heart are things I cannot express,
Does that make me different from you?
translated by William H. Nienhauser
Wonderful. Poets need to talk about rivers more. Why bother with mountains and oceans when rivers have so much to say to us?
I think it’s the constant flowing of a river that’s so appealing, don’t you?
Yes, and how it is so changeable.
Right you are.
Love this – flows along with depth
Glad you liked it.
Reblogged this on Leonard Durso.
Lakes and Rivers and many more little boats tied up alongside the Riverbank.
That motif never ends.
